Dawn

Dawn

British-mandated Palestine, 1947. Zionists fight for the establishment of a Jewish state in Palestine. A member of the underground movement has been sentenced to death by the British authorities. In turn, they have kidnapped a British officer. Now, they sit out the night together, waiting for the result of the negotiation. If the British hang their friend at dawn, one of them will shoot the British officer.

Dawn is a cleverly quiet film, played out through the night in 1947 Palestine. Shot and acted beautifully, we had to keep up our end and maintain the tension between the characters as the movie plays out. Our main objective was creatively to keep the picture moving with subliminal and subtle sounds and tones rather than anything more obvious.

The Weeman

The Weeman

The depiction of the true life story of Paul Ferris. Set on the streets of Glasgow, we follow Paul Ferris on his downward spiral into a life of organised crime. We had many hours of fun making this movie, I mean which soundies wouldn’t? It’s got guns, cars, explosions, a midget, and a fart! ‘Nuff said.

Wild Bill

Wild Bill

The directorial debut from Dexter Fletcher, Wild Bill tells the poignant, funny and dramatic story of a father and son relationship set in London’s East End.

Working closely with Dexter, we created a soundscape that lands the audience squarely in the pre-Olympic building site of the East End of London; yet in ‘Wild Bill’s’ (Charlie Creed-Miles) world, the surroundings drop back to leave him slightly isolated from the real world.

Just Inès

Just Inès

Just Inès takes the audience on a deeply personal journey into the life of Tom Jackson.

Tom is perceived as having an ideal life, but behind this façade of perfection, he is living a lie.

When his wife threatens to leave him, Tom cracks, and the consequences are something to be reckoned with. After leaving prison and realising he has lost the life that he knew, Tom is forced to start afresh alone. Self-doubt and loneliness now seem to dominate his days. When PJ enters his life everything seems suddenly brighter as their relationship develops, that is until his beautiful French neighbour Inès appears on the scene. A tender connection develops among them. This quietly mysterious woman intrigues Tom. Through finding out about her life, it puts everything in Tom’s own story into perspective.

There might be damage, but there is always hope.

Working with Marcel Grant once more, we gave this gentle dialogue led drama support with delicate atmospheres which help draw you through the film. The final mix is a delicate balance between these atmospheres, the fantastic score, and the dialogues.

Immersione

Immersione

In the crystal clear waters surrounding a remote Sicilian island, a twelve year-old boy explores the limits of his independence for the first time. A modern-day fable, Immersione is a film of striking purity.

Great fun for us! We loved being able to take you on a journey down into the warm crystal waters of the mediterranean, searching for hidden treasures.

Weekender

Weekender

The exploits of two friends who make the move from partying at illegal warehouse raves, to becoming successful promoters at the peak of the Manchester, Amsterdam and Ibiza rave scene in the early 90s.

Definitely our kind of film! Having grown up as teenagers in the 90s, we could relate to this subject, and with a soundtrack mixed by Terry Farley, including tracks such as Inner City’s ‘Good Life’ and Leftfield’s ‘Not Forgotten’ we were always onto a winner! Plenty of sound design here getting in and out of club scenes and trippy out of body experiences… trust us… it’s all about the Whales.
